Design Director: Global Design and Branding Consultancy

Location: New York

Our client is brand consultancy, based in London, New York City and San Francisco. The company’s purpose is to create transformative brands that push what’s possible for people, businesses and the world, exploring new ways of doing things and using creativity to make a difference.

They currently seek a talented and dynamic Design Director to contribute to and uphold their stellar creative work as well as manage and mentor more junior employees. This is a senior role working alongside the Creative leadership to lead and manage design projects for influential and high-profile brands.

Responsibilities:

-Direct, manage and take creative responsibility for client design projects and provide clear, focused, inspirational design direction to other members of the design team

-Identify and lead in the nurturing of standout ideas as well as creating and maintaining creative excellence at all times

-Demonstrate a full understanding of the strategic approach from project concept to completion

-Communicate strategic ideas clearly through an established aptitude for storytelling and visual and verbal narrative and with a clear and decisive voice

-Be accountable for resourcing projects both internally and externally, reviewing and managing work against strategies, understanding client’s design needs and meeting deadlines

-Bring clear and articulate presentation skills in client meetings, briefings and workshops

-Collaborate closely and flexibly with the Creative Director, Lead Strategist, client management team, Head of Studio Operations and more to ensure the highest design standards on every project and in line with client expectations

-Develop strong relationships externally to continually improve the agency’s creative voice within the design community. Examples could include speaking events, university visits and networking events.

-Help to mentor and develop designers and juniors

Requirements:

-At least one year of experience working within a creative agency at Design Director level

-At least 8 year’s industry experience in brand and graphic design, working with high-profile

and demanding global clients across diverse areas of branding including packaging, identity and digital work

-Solid, proven branding skills and conceptual thinking demonstrated across a broad client base

-A sharp strategic mind that quickly marries up design logic and creative flair

-An original thinker, with impeccable communication skills who is able to communicate ideas and direction clearly throughout the creative process both internally and externally

-Inspiring, engaging and authentic with a natural ambition to grow the business and people. An inspiration and mentor to less experienced team members and a level head under pressure

-A demonstrated and sustained ability to create award-winning creative work with a commercial awareness

-Hands-on, and able to adapt across categories, brands and touch-points

-The highest ability of typography, layout, colour and the latest design software and related tools

-A thorough understanding of the latest Adobe Suite software
