Reflections of Summer

Although recruiting and job hunting/searching is still busy, it definitely dies down during the Summer months. People have more of a “holiday” mentality and often want to put career related topics on the back burner. I am absolutely in support of taking some time away from the job search during the gorgeous days of Summer. However, I also encourage people to use these down and lazier days to reflect, ponder, brainstorm, and TAKE THE TIME to really think about career motivations, objectives, and next steps. Deliberating and contemplating and forming a game plan for job searching while you are actively and busily employed can be difficult and can often lead to rash and improperly thought out decisions. What clearer and chiller way to think about what you seek in your next role or what you seek in the next five years career wise than on a beach sipping a cool colada or dipping your toes into the lake or even sitting back and letting your face catch some rays of sun for a few minutes while wearing your thinking cap.

The fresh start of Fall will be here before we know it and what better way to start a new season than with some clear and powerful thinking from the sunny days of Summertime.
