Strategy Director:
Global Brand and Design Consultancy

Location: New York, NY

Our client is brand consultancy, based in London, New York City and San Francisco. The company’s purpose is to create transformative brands that push what’s possible for people, businesses and the world, exploring new ways of doing things and using creativity to make a difference.

They currently seek a Strategy Director to join their team to direct the vision and the standards for the business and for its people within the strategy community. The Strategy Director will play an active role on at least two of the company’s most high-profile accounts as a business leader, taking responsibility for projects and the community by engaging in both new business and organic growth opportunities, championing the company culture and mentoring and stretching people’s potential to deliver the best work of their lives. 

Responsibilities:

- Ensure that the work meets client needs strategically, works well across all applications and builds the company’s reputation for stellar brand work

- Gain quick familiarity with the company’s tools and processes and introduce own tools 

- Demonstrate strong leadership of the team, encouraging the best work out of them as well as collaboration and skill-stretching opportunities. 

- Take an active role in new business, creating inspirational pitches that break the mold and take the company into new areas and challenge

- Be aware of the financial targets and needs of the company, playing an active role in ensuring that budgets are used carefully and effectively

- Push the ambition and quality of the work on projects, ensuring it meets the company’s exacting standards

- Play an active role the wider company community by contributing enthusiastically to all communities with new tools/methodologies and helping internal initiatives to take off

Requirements:

- 8-12 years of experience in an agency environment, preferably a brand consultancy

- Have extensive experience in brand  (deep expertise in enterprise-level brand purpose/positioning and portfolio strategy/architecture required)

- Speak the language of culture/employee engagement, customer experience, innovation and/or insights and analytics 

- Able to consult with clients on a range of brand and marketing issues

- Have a rich experience of roles, deep sector experience, possibly a postgraduate qualification, e.g. MBA.

- Have previously led a variety of multi-disciplinary teams

- Have previous experience in helping to change large, established organizations or up-scale fast growth, tech-led businesses. 

- Be likely to have a reputation in your own right and must have some expertise and experience in brand.

- Be entrepreneurial, with the ability to design projects into the long term with a view to organic growth and relationship extension. You will be passionate about developing new products, offers and markets to help the company grow.

- Have the judgment and experience to direct your team in finding resolutions empowering, motivating, nurturing and inspiring others. You will give your team space while stretching and pushing them to grow and succeed

- Enjoy expanding your network and can quickly establish rapport with clients and your team with a relentless, infectious positive energy that others feed on

- Able to remain calm and positive in the face of changes, business challenges and unique requirements of a project-driven business
